PHYS 275 - The Quantum World Almost a century ago, the theory of quantum physics was developed, challenging dramatically our common preconceptions about reality. Concepts derived from it, such as “Schrodinger’s Cat” or “Parallel Universes”, can be found all over popular culture, though often in confused and distorted ways. In this course, quantum theory is explored in a way that does not require any physics or mathematics prerequisites, just curiosity and willingness to question our assumptions about the world. The topics discussed include the reasons that led scientists to develop the strange ideas of quantum theory, the conceptual meaning of these ideas, and the philosophical questions that they raise.
