Addendum

Springfield College uses an Addendum section of the catalog to highlight all changes made after the initial publication date.  Below are the approved changes made to the catalog after the initial publication date in chronological order.

Version 2 Changes (September 2021)

• The address for the Worcester campus was updated on the Regional & Online Campuses  page within the Springfield College Profile  section. 
• The Speech-Language Pathology Certificate  has been added to the Academic Programs  section.
• ATRN 608: Functional Anatomy and Biomechanics has been updated to AEXS 622: Functional Anatomy and Biomechanics  in the Course Descriptions  section.  There were no changes to the course description itself. 
• DRAM 101: Introduction to Theater  has been added as an option to fulfill the Leadership in Service subcategory of the Creativity Themed Exploration in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section. 

Version 3 Changes (October 2021)

• The Course Load Requirements policy was added to the Financial Aid  section. 
• The Online / State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) language was added to the Accreditation  section.

Version 4 Changes (November 2021)

• The Student Code of Conduct was added to the Disclosure Statements ​ section.
• CISC 215: Python Programming  and PHYS 311: Physics II with Calculus  have been added as a new course offerings in the Course Descriptions  section.
• EDUC 162: Exceptional Children  has been added as an option to fulfill the Writing Across the Curriculum domain in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section. 

Version 5 Changes (December 2021)

• Language regarding repeat coursework was clarified in the Academic Progress - Undergraduate  policy in the Academic Policies  section and in the Satisfactory Academic Progress policy in the Financial Aid  section.  
• DANC 212: Exploring Wellness Through Contact Improvisation  and MSSW 661: Understanding and Responding to Trauma. A Social Work Perspective  have been added as new course offerings in the Course Descriptions  section.
• AEXS 690: Capstone in Sport and Exercise Psychology  has been updated to a 2-3 variable credit course in the Course Descriptions  section.
• The course title and description of HUSB 318: Intersectionality of Cultural Humility and Human Services Systems  was updated in the Course Descriptions  section. 
• MUSC 133: Music Technology  has been added as an option to fulfill the Aesthetic Expression domain in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section. 
• ENGL 352: American Realism and Naturalism  has been added as an option to fulfill the Literature domain in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section. 
• PHIL 380: Existentialism  has been added as an option to fulfill the Spiritual and Ethical Perspective domain in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section. 
• DANC 212: Exploring Wellness Through Contact Improvisation  has been added as an option to fulfill the 200-level requirement of the Wellness and Physical Literacy domain in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section. 
• COMM 239: Introduction to Public Relations , ENGL 307: Writing and Reading Fiction , ENGL 352: American Realism and Naturalism , and HUSB 201: Theories of Oppression  have been added as an options to fulfill the Writing Across the Curriculum domain in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section. 
• HLTH 425: Human Disease and Health Promotion  has been updated as an option to fulfill the Global subcategory of the Health and Wellness in Society Themed Exploration in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section. 
• RELI 220: Liberation Theology  and ENGL 275: Women and Literature  have been updated as an options to fulfill the Global subcategory of the Social Justice Themed Exploration in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section. 
• SMRT 272: Inclusive Recreation Services  has been updated as an option to fulfill the Leadership in Service subcategory of the Social Justice Themed Exploration in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section. 
• The curriculum for the Sport and Exercise Psychology  graduate program has been updated to reflect a change in the number of credits that AEXS 689: Internship in Sport Psychology  and AEXS 690: Capstone in Sport and Exercise Psychology  can be used towards the degree in the Academic Programs  section.
• The curriculum for the Community Youth Development and Leadership concentration of the Recreation Management  major has been updated to reflect removal of HUSB 109: Group Dynamics  as a required course as well as removal of the 12-credit selective requirement in the Academic Programs  section.

Version 6 Changes (January 2022)

• The Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section has been updated to reflect the 200-level course requirement and the Leadership in Service subcategory requirement are no longer needed to complete a Themed Exploration.  As such, all previously approved coursework for the Leadership in Service subcategory of each individual Themed Exploration has been re-listed within the Selective subcategory of that corresponding Themed Exploration.  
• The VA Certification and Enrollments Steps language was added to the Veterans  secton.
• The course title and description have been updated for HIST 106: The United States and the World Since 1865  in the Course Descriptions  section. 

Version 7 Changes (February 2022)

• ENGL 245: LGBTQ Literature , ENGL 306: Reading and Writing Poetry , and ENGL 308: Writing and Reading Creative Non-Fiction  have been added as options to fulfill the Literature domain in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section. 
• HLTH 260: Drugs and Society  has been updated as an option to fulfill the Selectives subcategory of the Social Justice Themed Exploration in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section. 
• ENGL 306: Reading and Writing Poetry , ENGL 308: Writing and Reading Creative Non-Fiction , HSCI 494: Research Seminar in Health Science , HUSB 305: Issues in Research , and PHTH 310: Healthcare Language: Systems, Specialties, Pathologies and Culture  have been added as options to fulfill the Writing Across the Curriculum domain in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section.

Version 8 Changes (March 2022)

• HLTH 320: Death and Dying, Life and Living  has been added as a Selective offering in the Health Promotion Minor  in the Academic Programs  section.
• ENGL 274: Asian American Literature  has been updated as an option to fulfill the Global subcategory of the Social Justice Themed Exploration in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section. 
• ENVS 216: Environmental Geology Laboratory  has been added as an option to fulfill the Scientific Reasoning domain in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section. 

Version 9 Changes (April 2022)

• The language was clarified in the Adding and Dropping Courses  policy in the Academic Policies  section.
• SMRT 102: Foundations of Therapeutic Recreation  has been added as an option to fulfill the Writing Across the Curriculum domain in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section.
• SPAN 104: Latin American Culture and Language  has been updated as an option to fulfill the Global subcategory of the Creativity Themed Exploration in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section.
• MUSC 101: Basic Musicianship  has been updated as an option to fulfill the Selective subcategory of the Creativity Themed Exploration in the Core Curriculum Requirements (40 credits)  section.
