HUSB 201 - Theories of Oppression This course focuses on theoretical frameworks that illustrate how power is used to maintain the idealism of “just” social, political, and economic structures, which at the same time are agents of oppression. Students in this course explore how oppression is applied to a given individual or group, as well as how it is interconnected to factors including class, race, gender, identity, and religion, thus creating interdependent social and structural systems that result in disenfranchisement.
