Program Description

The Biology major offers students a comprehensive education in both theory and application across the life sciences. The biology major also integrates coursework in chemistry, math, and physics, as well as Springfield College’s Core Curriculum creating an integrated, multidisciplinary program. Laboratory experiences, independent and field research, and internships supplement the required coursework to equip students with the skills necessary to navigate emerging scientific questions and challenges. A variety of upper-level courses allow students to take ownership of their learning and customize their coursework to make the major their own. Graduates of this program are thus poised to thrive in a variety of dynamic environments beyond Springfield College including, but not limited to, graduate school, including medical or dental school; careers in hospital, governmental, or industrial laboratories, and in allied health fields.
