Program Description
The Springfield College Gerontology Certificate Program will offer an interdisciplinary curriculum through which students will be exposed to the science of aging, the experience of health and aging, the political and economic arenas of aging, work-life issues, end-of-life decisions, and family caregiving. The curriculum will also include community experience where students must apply course knowledge in a community setting serving older adults. This can be gained through internships, practica, clinical rotations, fieldwork, and service-learning courses. Students may tailor their experiences to meet their career goals, with the approval of the Gerontology Certificate Program Coordinator. The program is designed to provide students with a holistic approach to the assessment of older adults’ well-being, which aligns with the mission of Springfield College.
