Program Description
Training in historical methodology can serve to form the leadership skills, which are integral to the college’s mission. In our history classes, students have the opportunity to engage directly with the college’s history as well as the historical context and the roots of the Humanics idea.
The History minor emphasizes the discipline’s traditional strengths, such as critical thinking, as well as the construction of evidence-based arguments and their written and oral communication. At Springfield College, we encourage and provide opportunities for active engagement and direct contact with a wide variety of historical evidence. These experiences include internships (including in the Springfield College archives) field trips, historical research, and the preparation of scholarly presentations and other real-life experiences beyond the classroom.
