AEXS 470 - Strength & Conditioning


This course provides students with the knowledge and practical skills to design and implement effective strength and conditioning programs to improve athletic performance. Students will understand how the body adapts to different types of training, including speed, power, agility, mobility/flexibility, plyometrics, resistance training, power development, sport-specific conditioning, and recovery methods. Essential exercise coaching techniques, sport psychology principles, performance testing and analysis methods, and strategies for developing training programs tailored to different athletic populations and situations will be covered. This course also supports those preparing for the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) exam. AEXS 470 combines lectures and discussions, while AEXS 471 is lab-based, allowing students to apply the concepts in practice.
