SWRK 101 - Introduction to Social Work and Social Welfare This introductory course in social work is designed to assist students in gaining an awareness and understanding of the many aspects of the social work profession. The course covers a wide array of topics designed to expose students to the many “faces” of social work from individual clinical work to macro work, advocacy, and social policy. This course also provides a foundation for understanding the social welfare system in the United States; an essential knowledge base for any aspiring social worker. This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the basic knowledge, skills, and values necessary for practitioners in generalist social work practice. Credits: 3
