HLTH 686 - Capstone in Health Promotion and Health Equity

The purpose of this course is to provide a culminating, integrative curricular experience for students enrolled in the M.Ed. in Health Promotion Health Equity and Social Justice program. During their last semester prior to graduation, students demonstrate how well they have attained the competencies required for the program. More “experiential” in its application, the capstone requirement is meant to synthesize the scope of knowledge, theory, leadership and advocacy skills developed across the breadth of the program. Because the M.Ed. in Health Promotion Health Equity and Social Justice is geared towards the working health education/health promotion professional, capstone proposals and projects are unique to the student and their current or anticipated professional experiences. Students propose a semester-long project and obtain the approval from the course instructor and the site supervisor in the semester prior to the start of the project. Guidance and supervision of the project will be provided collaboratively by the course instructor and site supervisor according to a pre-arranged agreement.
