SMRT 473 - Therapeutic Recreation Programming This course is designed to provide an overview of procedures and techniques utilized in treatment-orientated settings and prepare the students with the essential principles and elements involved in effectively planning, organizing, conducting, supervising and promoting therapeutic recreation programs. Processes include APIE, establishing behavioral objectives, activity analysis and selection, and medical terminology. Techniques covered include but are not limited to behavior modification, recreation counseling, and group methodology. Emphasis is placed on practical application in a variety of settings to better meet the physical, psychological, emotional and social needs, interests and potential of persons with disabilities.
