EDUC 638 - Critical Theories

This course will introduce doctoral students to the purpose of theory as a conceptual framework or an analytical tool within research. Educational leaders will examine a variety of critical theoretical lenses, such as Critical Race Theory, LatCrit, Critical Indigenous Theory, Disability Studies in Education, DisCrit, Critical Queer Theory, and Intersectionality, and then use these theoretical lenses to examine current systems, structures, and practices within U.S. public and private education.  Emphasis is placed on practical and analytical applications of theory in order to imagine (and create) more socially just and equitable learning spaces in k-12 and higher education settings.
