Program Description

The Speech-Language Pathology Certificate program is for students who are working toward or have obtained an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in any field and wish to become speech-language pathology assistants or complete prerequisite coursework to apply to graduate school to obtain a master’s degree to practice as a speech-language pathologist. Speech-language pathology has a projected 25% job growth over the next ten years according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics which means that SLPs and SLPAs are in demand. Speech-language pathology is #4 in the US News and World Report’s 2021 Best Health Care Jobs.

Undergraduate Curriculum Overview

• There may be circumstances where credit totals do not reflect coursework that is eligible to count towards Core Curriculum and Major Requirement sections of a major simultaneously.

Students applying for the ASHA SLPA may complete their clinical field work and additional training requirements within a College course; they can also do this independently. Graduate programs in speech-language pathology are variable in their requirements for graduate admission. These selective options would allow students the ability to tailor coursework to their programs of interest.  Each is 3-credit and is not required to be taken to earn the certificate.
