Occupational Therapy Practice Certificate Program

The purpose of the Post-Professional Degree Program in Occupational Therapy is to prepare occupational therapists for the roles of advanced practitioner, clinical researcher, innovator, collaborator, leader, teacher, manager, and advocate in order to enhance the ability of people to engage in healthy occupations.  The Practice Certificate Program focuses on the practice side of the profession, promoting the value of developing more specialized expertise in a specific area of practice.  Students who complete this program may be encouraged to continue their advanced education as part of their professional development plans.

Program requirements (12 credits)


A minimum g.p.a. of 3.0 is required.

Research requirement (3 credits)


  • Credits: 3
  • If a student has already completed a graduate level research methods course with a grade of B or better, he/she may substitute a different research based course in consultation with his/her advisor.

Elective courses (6 credits)


Student-selected and advisor-approved elective courses, including courses within/outside the Occupational Therapy department, independent study, and/or field-based education.
