To receive a minor in Spanish, students must participate in one of Springfield College’s Study Abroad Program in Spain. For further information, contact the chair of the Humanities Department. All 15 semester hours are taken overseas. Upon successful completion of either program, participants satisfy the following General Education categories: Literary Studies (Literature), Visual and Performing Arts, Spiritual and Ehical Dimensions, Social Sciences (Historical / Cultural Studies). The exact General Education categories that are fulfilled will vary according to the respective programs and the General Education courses taken prior to studying in Spain.
Prerequisites for this minor are:
- Successful completion of the fourth semester of college-level Spanish, or permission of the program director.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; a GPA of 3.00 or higher in all Spanish courses.
- Placement at intermediate level or higher in the placement exams administered at the host university.
