SMRT 224 - Building Community through Recreational Esports and Gaming

In this course, students explore the leisure side of esports and gaming as a means for building community in recreational nonprofit, collegiate, municipal, and virtual spaces. Students learn about the effects of video gaming and how to design esport programs to effectively meet intended outcomes. Students also learn about strategies around community development and engagement, building organizational capacity, and empowering youth to overcome challenges to building better communities.
