HLTH 682 - Seminar in Health Promotion: Social Justice, Anti- Racism, and Health This graduate seminar in health promotion will focus on social justice, anti-racism, and health, examining how we as health educators and health professionals can promote health equity in the world around us via our professional and educational careers. During this course we will learn core public health concepts around health equity, frameworks of racism, and social justice, and link course content to current events. The culminating course project will be applied in nature, modeling a “real world” work environment in terms of group dynamics and team negotiation. The focus of this course will be global, with applied attention to supporting anti-racism efforts at Springfield College. In keeping with the Humanics mission of the College, the goal of our final project will be to promote racial inclusivity on campus. A graduate seminar provides theoretical foundational knowledge, and promotes critical thinking via highly engaged group discussions. Active preparation and participation are essential in this course.
