HSCI 340 - Principles of Epidemiology Epidemiology involves studying the distribution and causes or disease at the population level. This course is an introduction to the basic principles and methods of epidemiology, including study design concepts, quantitative methods, and critical thinking skills relating to the study of infectious and chronic disease. Students learn how epidemiologic principles and methods applied in the fields of health care and public health, and are introduced to the skills needed to evaluate the strengths and limitations of epidemiologic methods and to interpret the results of epidemiologic studies.
