BIOL 316 - Virology and Immunology This course is a survey of medically important viruses and a study of the fundamental concepts and principles of the immune system. Special attention is given to serious adult illnesses and how the immune system works. Autoimmune disease, immunodeficiencies, cancer and the immune system, as well as pathological consequences of immunity resulting from normal functioning of the system and from improper functioning of the immune-response-regulating system, will be discussed.
