MMHC 612 - Psychopharmacology for Mental Health Counselors This course provides an introduction to basic neurobiology and psychopathology and frequently prescribed psychotropic medications used to treat mental health disorders. In addition, the course examines the role of the mental health counselor who, as a member of a psychopharmacological treatment team, assists with monitoring compliance with psychotropic treatment, identifies the efficacy and side effect manifestations of such treatment, and helps to integrate such treatment with nonpharmacological modalities.
