MMHC 648 - Multicultural and Diversity Aspects of Empowerment Counseling This course examines empowerment thru intervention with oppressed/marginalized
individuals, groups, families, organizations, and communities. Emphasis is on multicultural and pluralistic trends, including characteristics
and concerns such as age, race, religious preference, physical disability, sexual
orientation, ethnicity and culture, family patterns, gender, SES, and intellectual
ability. Cultural contexts of relationships, issues and trends are examined, as
are their impact on the effective use of empowerment.
