CJWB 260 - Race & Justice This course examines how race, ethnicity, gender and class play a role in the
treatment an individual receives while “participating” in the U.S. society and
the justice system. It explores several topic areas including arrest, sentencing,
and corrections. In addition, students are introduced to Critical Race Theory
(CRT), a theory which challenges the ways in which race and racial power are constructed
in U.S. society. Issues including affirmative action, property rights, and the
social construction of race are discussed.
