Change of Program - Graduate

Active graduate students may seek to change their degree program at any point during their matriculation, including after a programmatic dismissal (e.g. when students are dismissed from their individual program but are not academically dismissed from the College for failing to meet the academic standards listed within the Academic Progress - Graduate policy), by contacting the corresponding Department Chair of their desired new program.  Students interested in changing programs are required to meets their desired new program’s internal transfer process, which may include including meeting all of the program’s admissions criteria and submission of any applicable admission materials. A completed Academic Record Update Form with the signatures of the student and corresponding Department Chair must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar to complete the change of program process.

If admitted to the new graduate program, the student’s degree completion period will reset to the length of time allowed for completion of their new program; however, their credit and GPA totals will only reset if the new program is at a different degree level (e.g., a change from a graduate program to a doctoral program or vice versa.)  See Degree Completion Period policy for additional information.
