2024-2025 Springfield College Catalog
Repeating a Course
|
|
Students are permitted to repeat a course in which they earned an unsatisfactory grade through Springfield College or transfer credit.
If the repeat attempt is taken through Springfield College, both grade entries will appear on an official transcript but only the most recent repeat grade, regardless if it is higher or lower than the previous attempt, will be factored into a grade point average (GPA) calculation (see Grading and Grade Point Average Computation policy for additional information). Every attempt of the course is counted in the attempted credit total but only the most recent repeat attempt will be factored into the earned credit total.
If the repeat attempt is accepted for transfer credit, the grade from the previous attempt(s) will appear on an official transcript but the transfer course will be transferred in as a P grade. All grades from the course, including the P grade, will no longer be factored into any GPA calculation. Every attempt of the course is counted in the attempted credit total but only the most recent repeat attempt will be factored into the earned credit total. See Transfer Credit policy for more information regarding taking coursework outside of Springfield College.
Note: Students may receive aid to repeat a course in which they received a failing grade. Federal rules only allow federal aid one time for a repeat of a course that previously received a passing grade.
