Change of Major

Undergraduate students may apply to a new major by meeting departmental internal transfer requirements, including meeting with the major’s department chairperson and completing the Application to Change Major/Minor, available online or from the Office of the Registrar. The new major’s department chairperson must approve and sign the application. In addition, the application must be signed by the chairperson of the student’s previous major.

Students must generally be in good academic standing to be admitted into a new major. Some majors require higher GPAs to meet advanced standing requirements or satisfactory completion of certain prerequisites. Certain majors are restricted in number and limit the number of new majors accepted.

Note:  Not all majors are offered online, at our regional campuses or at our main Springfield campus. Students should be aware that differences exist in tuition, fees and financial aid packages between our online and regional campuses and our main Springfield campus.
