Calculation of Grade Point Average (GPA)
The Grade Point Average (GPA) is determined by dividing the sum of the grade points by the sum of the semester hours. An example is shown below:
Grades earned carry the grade point values as shown. Multiplying the credit hours by the grade points gives the total grade points earned for the course.

Total grade points (40.2) divided by total semester hours (16) equals 2.512 GPA
Grades obtained through coursework transferred from another institution or grades for undergraduate courses taken at Springfield College whether as prerequisites or as supplements to a student’s total program, are not included in the calculation of the GPA.
