Doctor of Psychology in Counseling Psychology

The Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) program in counseling psychology at Springfield College provides students with specialty training in their choice of three concentrations: Athletic Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or Marriage and Family Counseling. The program provides students the opportunity to enhance their clinical, theoretical, and research skills through coursework and hands-on learning through required practica and a year-long internship. Students complete a total of 115 credits, including 90 credits and a core of doctoral courses and 24 credits within their concentrations.


Students will be guided in learning both the science and practice of psychology, and will graduate as confident professionals who can serve society through the use of analytic, problem solving, and human relations skills. Graduates will be prepared to apply their well-developed counseling skills in many diverse settings, including the mental health, athletic, forensic, educational, business, and research fields.
