BIOL 261 - General Ecology Laboratory This course provides hands-on experience in the field of genetics. Classical
(Mendelian) genetic crosses, genetic mapping of disease genes, and how genes are
inherited in a population are shown using computer simulations. Molecular methods
are employed to understand recombinant technology and the molecular basis of genetics.
DNA fingerprinting, locating a specific gene in the genome, and the determination
of mutagenic substances are examples of modern experiments performed in the laboratory.
Prerequisites & Notes Co-requisite: Students must also register for BIOL 260 or permission of Instructor.
