Addendum for California Students

  • Addendum A-ACCREDITATION 

Springfield College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. NEASC is an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education.

  • Addendum B- Bankruptcy Notification per CEC 94909 (a) (12)  

Springfield college does not have any pending petition in bankruptcy, is not operating as a debtor in possession, has not filed a petition within the preceding five years, has not had a petition in bankruptcy filed against it within the preceding five years that resulted in reorganization under Chapter 11 of the Unites States Bankruptcy Code (11 U.S.C. Sec. 1101 et seq.)

  • Addendum C - Campus Location & Residency statement

All Springfield College regional campuses are non-residential settings and the institution has no responsibility to find or assist a student in finding housing.

Not being a residential setting and not requiring students to live near the campus, should a student wish to relocate within the area, there are units in the area at an estimated monthly housing rental costs in the range of $1300 to $2000 per month.

Springfield College regional campuses are non-residential and the institution does not provide nor has no responsibility to find or assist a student in finding housing.

The California campus provides a full academic program and the student services that meet the particular needs of adult learner in their weekend program. Once admitted, a student may take classes at any of the campuses or transfer to any campus during the course of the program.

The California Campus offers programs leading to the degrees of a Bachelor of Science in Human Services or a Master of Science in Human Services.

Before considering cross registration or transfer to another campus, students should consult with their advisor.

Springfield College Southern California Campus classes are held at: 17542 E. 17th Street, Suite 200, Tustin, CA 92780 in historic Tustin Strategically located near Santa Ana in Orange County the facility is a short distance from the 55, just north of its junction with the 5, making it convenient for students to get to the campus from the San Diego or Los Angeles Areas

  • Addendum F- (STRF) - STUDENT TUITION RECOVERY DISCLOSURES

The following replaces the Student Tuition Recovery Fee - California Campuses only sections found on pages 17-18 of this catalog.

Per 5, CRC 76215 the State of California requires the following STRF Disclosure.

  1. The State of California established the Student Tuition Recovery Fund (STRF) to relieve or mitigate economic loss suffered by a student in educational program at a qualifying institution, who is or was a California resident while enrolled, or was enrolled in a residency program, if the student enrolled in the institution, prepaid tuition, and suffered an economic loss. Unless relieved of the obligation to do so, you must pay the state-imposed assessment for the STRF, or it must be paid on your behalf, if you are a student in an educational program, who is a California resident, or are enrolled in a residency program, and prepay all or part of your tuition. 
    You are not eligible for protection from the STRF and you are not required to pay the STRF assessment if you are not a California resident, or are not enrolled in a residency program
  2. It is important that you keep copies of your enrollment agreement, financial aid documents, receipts, or any other information that documents the amount paid to the school.  Questions regarding the STRF may be directed to the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education, 2525 Capitol Oaks Drive, Suite 400 Sacramento, A 95833, (916) 431-6959 or (888) 370-7589.

To be eligible for STRF, you must be a California resident or are enrolled in a residency program, prepaid tuition, paid or deemed to have paid the STRF assessment, and suffered an economic loss as a result of any of the following:

  1. The institution, a location of the institution, or an educational program offered by the institution was closed or discontinued, and you did not choose to participate in a teach-out plan approved by the Bureau or did not complete a chosen teach-out plan approved by the Bureau.
  2. You were enrolled at an institution or location of the institution within the 120 day period before the closure of the institution or location of the institution, or were enrolled in an educational program within the 120 day period before the program was discontinued.
  3. You were enrolled at an institution or a location of the institution more than 120 days before the closure of the institution or location of the institution, in an educational program offed by the institution as to which the Bureau determined there was significant decline in the quality or value of the program more than 120 day before closure.
  4. The institution has been ordered to pay a refund by the Bureau but has failed to do so.
  5. The institution has failed to pay or reimburse loan proceeds under a federal student loan program as required by law, or has failed to reimburse the proceeds received by the institution in excess of tuition and other costs.
  6. You have been awarded restitution, a refund, or other monetary award by an arbitrator or court, based on a violation of this chapter by an institution of representative of an institution, but have been unable to collect the award from the institution.
  7. You sought legal counsel that resulted in the cancellation of one or more of your student loans and have an invoice for services rendered and evidence of the cancellation of the student loan or loans.

To qualify for STRF reimbursement, the application must be received within four (4) years from the date of the action or event that made the student eligible for recover from STRF.

A student whose loan is received by a loan holder or debt collector after a period of non-collection may, at any time, file a written application for recover from STRF for the debt that would have otherwise been eligible for recover.  If it has been more than four (4) years since the action or event that made the student eligible, the student must have files a written application for recovery within the original four (4) year period, unless the period has been extended by another ac t of law.
However, no claim can be paid to any student without a social security number or a taxpayer identification number.

  • Addendum G- Student’s Right to Cancel

Tuition Refund Policy

In addition to the refund policy listed in this catalog the California CEC 94909 refund and cancellation policy is followed for students in the California Campus.  “California Students have the right to a refund of charges  paid through the attendance at the first class session, or the seventh day after enrollment, whichever is later.

  • Addendum H- Language proficiency information per 5, CCR 71810

Springfield College recognizes the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) as the primary ways of demonstrating English proficiency. Scores from other English language proficiency tests will be considered on a case by case basis. Certificates of Completion from Intensive English Language Schools/Programs may also be considered on a case by case basis.

Students who do not meet English language requirements may be eligible for a conditional acceptance. Students with a conditional acceptance are required to take English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes (which carry undergraduate credit), and may be awarded an unconditional offer upon successful completion of pre-approved ESOL classes, an acceptable score on an English language proficiency test, or upon recommendation from ESOL faculty.

  • Addendum I-Ability-to-benefits students

The College does not accept ability-to-benefit students and has no articulation or transfer agreements with any California College or University at this time.

  • Addendum J-Student Records

This section is amended to indicate that student records are permanently maintained by the Office of the Registrar and copies of transcripts, dates of enrollment and degrees obtained may be acquired by contacting the Registrar at: email : registrar@springfieldcollege.edu, phone (413) 748-3530, or fax (413) 748-3451.   • Addendum K-Transfer Credit Policy

As Required by CEC 94909 (a) (15) of the State of California the following further explains the College’s transfer credit policy that applies to both graduate and undergraduate courses.

“NOTICE CONCERNING TRANSFERABILITY OF CREDITS AND CREDENTIAS EARNED AT OUR INSTITUTIONS The transferability of credits you earn at Springfield College is at the complete discretion of an institution to which you may seek to transfer. Acceptance of the (degree, diploma, or certificate) you earn in Springfield College is also at the complete discretion of the institution to which you may seek to transfer.  If the (credits or degree, diploma, or certificate) that you earn at this institution are not accepted at the institution to which you seek to transfer, you may be required to repeat some or all of your course work at the institution.  For this reason you should make certain that your attendance at this institution will meet your educational goals.  This may include contacting an institution to which you may seek to transfer after attending Springfield College to determine if your (credits, or degree, diploma, or certificate) will transfer”
